Marketing Director/Managing Editor
Spanish Edition Ivette Diaz. In 2005, Ivette Díaz joined Natural Awakenings Healthy Living Magazine (Miami-Dade/Florida Keys, English and Spanish editions) as the Spanish magazine editor. As she describes it, working for Natural Awakenings was a very Natural Fit, and it was not by chance that she would become an integral part of the magazine’s future.
“I am thrilled to have chosen Natural Awakenings as my long-term choice in my business and professional life. NA is the type of organization that values nature, spirituality, and people, and supports an all-around healthy-living approach to life. Being a long-time reader and fan of the magazine, once the opportunity materialized, I knew that it was part of the journey I had long ago begun.”
A top graduate of Florida International University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Díaz brings a wealth of experience to Natural Awakenings, which includes public relations, journalism and marketing. Prior to joining the NA experience, Díaz served key organizations in Miami-Dade and Broward as an editorial assistant, spokesperson/public information officer, publicist, newspaper staff writer, and as a public relations and marketing executive.
Almost three years after joining NA, Díaz serves as the English and Spanish Managing Editor and Marketing/Public Relations Director. When she is not too busy at the magazine or at a healthy-living event, Díaz finds time for her favorite past times: yoga, tai chi, pranayama, and jogging. But spending time with friends and family is her favorite thing to do. She believes we can only live one moment at a time, and when those moments are spent with the ones we love and care about, memories are born.
Executive Director/Owner Angie Angelis, P.A. has practiced law in the Miami area since 1989 when she graduated from St. Thomas University School of Law with honors, ranking 5th in her class. Her service to our community however, began as a Public School teacher. Later she entered the mortgage industry where she became the President of the Mortgage Bankers Association. After her tenure she realized that her experience would be of further service in a different setting. Thus in 1986 she resigned and attended law school full time. Upon graduation, she joined several local law firms where she gained valuable experience which subsequently inspired her to launch the successful practice she has today. Ms. Angelis is a member of the International Alliance of Holistic Lawyers-So. Florida Chapter,
Angie : "Born to Greek immigrant parents in Manhattan, and the eldest of three, I learned early on the importance of fair play, honesty and leadership. Today, I stand proud of my record as I continue to educate and uplift the community as the co-owner of Natural Awakenings, Healthy Living Magazine.
“Our Humble Beginnings”
Healthy living entrepreneur Sharon Bruckman
established Natural Awakenings magazine in 1994 in
Naples, Florida in response to her local holistic
health community's need for an effective way to
share information and connect with people searching
for alternative therapies. Two years later, an avid
reader convinced her to launch a second edition in
Sarasota, Florida. Its destiny was to become the
prototype for an unprecedented franchise network
(formed in 1999) of like-minded people who value
what this magazine brings to their community. Today,
franchise owners publish more than
47 local editions, with new magazines added each
year. In each market 1,000s of free copies are
circulated at hundreds of public distribution
points.
"The wellness revolution I saw emerging years ago
is now in full swing," says Bruckman. "It's
propelled by the kind of people who read our
magazines and website. Our job is to keep our finger
on the pulse of cutting-edge advances and keep
readers apprised of the best healthy-life choices
available. We love what we do. We love to spread
light. Our delight is in awakening one community at
a time...naturally." says Bruckman.
Natural Awakenings offers a synergy that other
national publications just can't match, with both a
national and local focus seamlessly integrated into
each issue. We present special
features, interviews with national figures,
and guest columns right along with local news
briefs, stories, resource
directories and a
community calendar. Each month brings fresh
perspective around a timely theme sure to pique
their interest.
