ACUPRESSURE
Acupressure has been considered a generic term for
those healing arts which use pressure applied with a
thumb or finger to stimulate specific points on the
surface of the body. These points are located along
a system of energy meridians, and the stimulation is
intended to promote freer flow of energy along them.
Abnormal function in organs, muscles, bodily systems
as well as feelings of pain, tension and discomfort
are all associated with restricted flow of energy
along particular meridians. (See
also Shiatsu)
ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is an ancient Oriental technique which
stimulates the body's ability to sustain and balance
itself. It is based on the theory that an
electromagnetic life-force is channeled in its
continuous flow throughout the body by a network of
"meridians."Disease is understood as an imbalance in
the meridian system. Needles are inserted at
specific points along the meridians to stimulate or
disperse the flow of life-force, in order to correct
the imbalance. The systems of diagnosis used read
the pulse, face, tongue and body energy. Acupuncture
principles include the yin and yang polarities and
the five elements' associations with bodily organs.
ALCHEMICAL
HYPNOTHERAPY
Alchemical Hypnotherapy is interactive trance work
using archetypes/guides to empower clients in
discovering, aligning with, and living out their
life purposes. Developed by David Quigly, Alchemical
Hypnotherapy synthesizes techniques from many modern
schools of Transpersonal Hypnotherapy and
Psychology. It includes
Gestalt, Regression
Therapy,
Neuro-Linguistic Programming
(NLP), Psychosynthesis and
Shamanism
with the ancient science of Alchemy as translated
and channeled to the modern world by Dr. Carl Jung.
ANALOGICAL
COMMUNICATION™
Analogical Communication(tm) is the primary
interactive model of Analogical Psychology(tm),
which is a discipline that defines the rules
governing an individual's emotional behavior.
Through a pragmatic understanding and application of
Non-Verbal Communication, a trained coach may
directly access the subconscious mind of any
individual. This access is achieved in the unique
and specific language of the subconscious mind
through the tools of Dynamic Hypnosis(tm). Once the
subconscious is accessed, the coach uses Analogical
Communication and Visualization(tm) to guide the
individual through precise avenues of self-healing
AROMATHERAPY
Aromatherapy is an ancient healing art, utilizing
the essential oils of herbs and flowers to treat
emotional disorders such as stress and anxiety as
well as a wide range of other ailments. Oils are
massaged into the skin, inhaled, or placed in baths.
Aromatherapy is often used in conjunction with
massage therapy, acupuncture, reflexology, herbology,
chiropractic, and other holistic treatments.
AYURVEDA
Ayurveda is the oldest medical system known to man
and the oldest and most comprehensive spiritual
teaching in the world. It has beenpracticed in daily
life in India for more than 4000 years. It focuses
on achieving and maintaining perfect balance -
health being the balance of the elements air, fire
and water (illness is an excess of an element).
Determination of a patient's body type according to
Ayurvedic principles provides the basis for
individualized recommendations for dietary regimens
and other preventive therapeutic interventions.
Ayurvedic prescriptions might include purification
procedures for the restoration of biological
rhythms; experience of expanded consciousness
through meditation,
nutritional counseling, stress reduction,
neuromuscular conditions, and behavioral
modification.
BIOENERGETICS
Bioenergetics is a psychotherapy that works through
the body to engage the emotions. Specific postures
and exercises create a condition where the body
cannot continue both the exercise and the chronic
muscular tension and defensiveness known as body
armoring. Continuing the exercise causes the release
of layers of body armor. As feelings are unlocked,
this creates the opportunity for understanding and
integrating those feelings.
BIOFEEDBACK
Biofeedback is a relaxation technique that involves
careful monitoring of internal body states. A
technique used especially for stress-related
conditions such as asthma, migraines, insomnia, and
high blood pressure, biofeedback is a way of
monitoring minute metabolic changes in one's own
body (e.g., temperature changes, heart rate, and
muscle tension) with the aid of sensitive machines.
By consciously thinking, visualizing, moving,
relaxing, etc. one learns which actions produce
desirable changes in the internal processes being
monitored.
CHELATION THERAPY
Chelation Therapy is a safe, painless, non-surgical
medical procedure that improves metabolic and
circulatory function by removing undesirable heavy
metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, copper and
others from the body. Typically administered in an
osteopathic or medical doctor's office, chelation
therapy is a series of intravenous injections of the
synthetic amino acid EDTA. Once in the bloodstream,
EDTA blocks excess free radical production,
protecting the tissues and organs from further
damage. Over time, injections halt the progress of
the underlying condition that triggers the
development of many degenerative conditions such as
diabetes, arthritis, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and
cancer. More recently Chelation Therapy has also
been used to reverse symptoms of atherosclerosis or
arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) by
removing the obstructive plaque that has built up in
the circulatory system.
CHIROPRACTIC
Chiropractic is based on the premise that proper
structural alignment will permit free flow of nerve
activity in the body. Since the spine is literally
the backbone of human health, when spinal vertebrae
are out of alignment, they put pressure on the
spinal cord and nerves leaving the spinal cord.
Diminished function and illness are the result.
Misalignment can occur in a variety of ways
including physical trauma, poor posture and stress.
The chiropractor seeks to analyze and correct these
misalignments through spinal manipulation or
adjustment.
COLON THERAPY
Colon Therapy is an internal bath that washes away
old toxic waste accumulated along the walls of the
colon. It is given with pressurized water by a
professional using special equipment. One colonic
irrigation is equivalent of approximately four to
six enemas. Colonic irrigations reach every part of
the intestinal tract cleaning out matter that
collects and remains for years in the pockets and
kinks of the colon. The treatment is used as a
corrective process, and for prevention of disease.
Colonics are recommended for ailments such as
constipation, psoriasis, acne, allergies, headaches
and the common cold, to name a few.
COUNSELING/
PSYCHOTHERAPY
Counseling and Psychotherapy encompasses a broad
range of practitioners, from career counselors who
offer advice and information to psychotherapists who
treat depression, stress, addiction, and emotional
issues. Formats can vary from individual counseling
to group therapy. In addition to verbal counseling
techniques, some holistic therapists may use
bodywork, ritual, energy healing, and other
alternative modalities as part of their practice.
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
Craniosacral Therapy is a manual therapeutic
procedure for remedying distortions in the structure
and function of the craniosacral mechanism - the
brain and spinal cord, the bones of the skull, the
sacrum, and interconnected membranes. There are two
major premises of craniosacral work. First is that
the bones of the skull can be manipulated because
they never completely fuse. The second is that the
pulse of the cerebrospinal fluid can be balanced by
a practitioner trained to detect variations in that
pulse. It is used to treat chronic pain, migraine
headaches, TMJ, ear and eye problems, balance or
learning difficulties, dyslexia, hyperactivity and a
range of other conditions. The technique is
performed by a range of licensed health
practitioners.
CRYSTAL AND GEM
THERAPY
Crystal and gem therapy involves the use of quartz
crystals and gemstones for therapeutic and healing
purposes. Crystals have their own unique energy
frequencies. They have the capacity to amplify other
frequencies and are often used for this purpose in
healing. They also absorb and store frequencies and
essentially can be programmed to carry healing
intention. In the ancient art of "laying-on of
stones," practitioners place crystals and gemstones
on various parts of the body, corresponding to
chakra points, to balance energy flow.
DEEP TISSUE BODYWORK
Deep tissue work is a technique of stretching and
moving the connective tissue that envelopes the
muscles (fascia) in order to lengthen and balance
the body along its natural, vertical axis.
Distortions of the connective tissue may be caused
by reaction and compensation due to accidents,
emotional tension, or past traumas that were never
released. Benefits of deep tissue massage are
numerous. It is used to remove chronic muscular
pain, help with injury rehabilitation, and reduce
inflammation-type pain caused by ailments such as
arthritis and tendonitis. By helping to remove
accumulated lactic acid and other waste products
from the muscles, deep tissue massage works to
detoxify tissue.
DENTISTRY
Dentistry from a holistic approach regards the mouth
as a microcosm of the whole body. The oral
structures and the whole body are seen as a unit.
They often incorporate such methods as
homeopathy, biocompatibility testing and
nutritional counseling. Most holistic dentists
emphasize wellness and preventive care while
avoiding (and often recommending the removal of)
silver-mercury fillings.
ENERGY FIELD WORK
Energy Field Work is the art and practice of
realigning and reattuning the body between the
physical and the etheric and auric fields to assist
the body's natural healing processes. Working
directly with the energy field in and around the
body, energy is channeled through the practitioner
and directed into the cells, tissues, and organs of
the body. In this way, healing occurs on physical
and non-physical levels at the same time. Sessions
may or may not involve the physical laying-on of
hands.
FELDENKRAIS METHOD
The Feldenkrais Method combines movement training,
gentle touch, and verbal dialogue to help create
freer, more efficient movement. Feldenkrais takes
two forms: In individual hands-on sessions
("Functional Integration"), the practitioner's touch
is used to address the student's breathing and body
alignment; and in a series of classes of slow,
non-aerobic motion ("Awareness Through Movement"),
students "relearn" improved ways their bodies can
move.
FLOTATION TANK
The flotation tank is a specially designed chamber
usually filled with about a foot of therapeutic,
salt saturated water. Once inside the tank, the user
lies down and effectively negates the forces of
gravity by floating effortlessly on the surface of
the super-dense solution. Floating weightless in a
sound and light proof environment is a unique and
liberating experience that contributes to stress
reduction and enhances concentration.
GESTALT THERAPY
A person's "gestalt" ("the whole picture") is his
mind, body, and spirit, as well as his heritage,
place in society, values, and aspirations. Gestalt
Therapy resolves incomplete or conflicting gestalts
within a person to enable him to be more fully aware
in the present moment. The individual is guided to
acknowledge and take responsibility for ("to own")
these different parts of herself - to enact and give
equal voice to her myriad feelings, thereby
facilitating a true reconciliation of the many
selves within her.
GUIDED IMAGERY AND CREATIVE VISUALIZATION
Guided imagery and creative visualization is the
effective use of images or symbols to focus the mind
on the workings of the body in order to cause real
physiological changes. Creative Imagery, in
practice, is the conscious creation of positive
thoughts and images, and the communication of them
to the body to accomplish some particular goal or
desired outcome. It can be utilized for the relief
of pain, the curing of disease, or to affect
behavioral change. Imagery can take on many forms.
It is a flow of thought you can see, hear, feel,
smell, and taste. Imagination, although associated
with fantasy, or daydreaming is an important part of
the visualization process. It is the ability to
create a mental picture in the mind of what is
desired and transform circumstances of life.
HERBAL MEDICINE
Herbal medicine, by far the oldest form of medicine
practiced by mankind, uses natural plants in a wide
variety of forms for their therapeutic value. An
herb is a plant or plant part valued for its
medicinal, savory, or aromatic qualities. Herb
plants produce and contain a variety of chemical
substances that act upon the body to strengthen its
natural functions without the negative side effects
of synthetic drugs. Herbs are prepared for internal
and external use in a variety of ways, including
teas, tinctures, extracts, oils, ointments,
compresses, and poultices.
HOLISTIC HEALTH/ HOLISTIC MEDICINE
The Holistic approach is a perspective on health and
healing that considers all aspects of one's life as
creating and comprising a total state of health.
Analysis of physical, nutritional, emotional,
environmental, spiritual and lifestyle values of the
client is performed as an interrelated work which
treats the individual rather than the disease. The
treatment may consist of a few procedures, each
appropriate to a different aspect of one's self and
life, to achieve a fuller, more unified sense of
wellbeing. A holistic practitioner takes the stance
of assisting the client in the process of
self-healing, thus forming a cooperative
relationship with his client. The client learns that
self-responsibility for his health plays an
essential role in the healing process.
HOLOTROPIC
BREATHWORK
Holotropic Breathwork is a powerful technique of
self-exploration that combines breathing, evocative
music, and a specific form of bodywork. It includes
and integrates the physical, psychological, and
spiritual dimensions. Presented in a two-day
workshop by certified facilitators, participants try
to access the four "levels" of experience that are
available during breathing; sensory, biographical,
perinatal, and transpersonal. By accessing buried
memories, an individual can relive their own birth
experience or traumatic life events, free up "stuck"
emotional viewpoints, or in some cases experience a
mystical state of awareness such as connecting to
the universe.
HOMEOPATHY
Homeopathy is a highly systematic therapy that uses
small doses of specially prepared plants and
minerals to powerfully stimulate the body's defense
mechanisms and healing processes in order to cure
illness. The word "homeopathy" is taken from the
Greek homeos meaning "similar" and pathos meaning
"suffering." Thus, Homeopathy means "to treat with
something that produces an effect similar to the
suffering." This "law of similars," the concept of
"like cures like" is the basic principle of
Homeopathy. A remedy is individually chosen for a
sick person based on its capacity to cause, if given
in overdose, physical and psychological symptoms
similar to those a patient is experiencing.
HOMEOVITIC
Homeovitic is the practice of contemporary
homeopathy based on Hipprocates' teachings of "first
do no harm" and "look to the cause for the cure". It
is used to clear, detoxify and support the body on a
cellular level.
HYPNOTHERAPY
Hypnotherapy refers to a range of hypnosis
techniques that allow practitioners to bypass the
conscious mind and access the subconscious. The
altered state that occurs under hypnosis has been
compared to a state of deep meditation or
transcendence, in which the innate recuperative
abilities of the psyche are allowed to flow more
freely. The subject can achieve greater clarity
regarding her own wants and needs, explore other
events or periods of life requiring resolution, or
generally develop a more positive attitude. Often
used to help people lose weight or stop smoking,
it's also used in the treatment of phobias, stress,
and as an adjunct in the treatment of illnesses.
INTUITIVE ARTS
Intuitive Arts is a general term for various methods
of divination, such as numerology, psychic reading,
and tarot reading. Individuals may consult
practitioners to seek information about the future
or insights into personal concerns or the
personality. Among the modalities: Numerology
emphasizes the significance of numbers derived from
the spelling of names, birth dated, and other
significant references; psychics may claim various
abilities, from finding lost objects and persons to
communicating with the spirits of the dead; and
tarot readers interpret a deck of card containing
archetypal symbols.
IRIDOLOGY
Iridology is the art and science of analyzing the
delicate structure of the colored portion of the
eye, or the iris. Over 90 specific areas on each
iris have been "mapped," making a total of over 180
zones available to reveal important information
about conditions in the body. Each specific area or
zone on the iris acts as a readout gauge to reflect
conditions in the corresponding area of the body.
Usually weaknesses are noticeable in the iris long
before they would be discernible through blood work
or laboratory analysis, thus making iridology and
nutritional support strong useful tools for
preventative selfcare.
KINESIOLOGY/ APPLIED KINESIOLOGY
Kinesiology is the study of muscles and their
movement. Applied Kinesiology uses the relative
strength and weakness of selected muscles to
indicate whether there is decreased function in any
bodily organs or systems, or whether there is an
imbalance or restriction in the energy flow. Much of
applied kinesiology is based on the observed
relationships between specific muscles and organs.
Some testing makes use of acupuncture meridians and
other testing makes use of interrelationships among
muscles, organs, the brain and the body's energy
field. Applied kinesiology is also used to check the
body's response to a treatment that is being
considered.
KRIPALU YOGA
Developed by Yogi Amrit Desai, Kripalu Yoga uses
classical hatha yoga postures and breathing
techniques to help students enter a state of
"meditation in motion." Besides offering guidance in
these yoga techniques, Kripalu Yoga teachers provide
an atmosphere where sensations, thoughts, and
emotions can be experienced in safety and
relaxation. The principles of Kripalu Yoga are the
foundation for Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy and
Kripalu Bodywork.
LAYING ON OF HANDS
One of the world's oldest healing methods, Laying on
of Hands has been practiced throughout history. Used
by shamans, by priests, and by doctors and nurses,
mentioned in the sacred literature of the East and
in the Bible, the Laying on of Hands works through
all levels of the being. Through the use of this
method of healing, a psychic healer connects the
physical, emotional, mental and spiritual layers of
the clients psyche, rebalancing the chakras and
energy fields in order to effect a healing of body,
mind and spirit.
MACROBIOTICS
Macrobiotics is an Eastern philosophy that is
perhaps best known in the West through its dietary
principles. Macrobiotic theory begins with the
realization that there is a natural order to all
things and we can achieve a fuller sense of balance
both within ourselves and with the world around us,
by synchronizing our eating habits with the cycles
of nature. Although not a specific diet, low-fat and
high-fiber foods, whole grains, vegetables, sea
vegetables, and seeds cooked in accordance with
macrobiotic principles are stressed.
MANUAL LYMPH
DRAINAGE
Manual Lymphatic Drainage, is a gentle,
non-invasive, rhythmical, whole-body massage aimed
at stimulating the lymphatic system to carry away
excessive fluid in the loose connective tissue.
Since the lymph system's function is to carry off
wastes, toxins, bacteria, viruses, excess water,
etc. from the body's connective tissue, blockage or
damage here results in a variety of conditions
including acne, edema, inflammation, arthritis, and
sinusitis. Because this therapy stimulates a natural
cleaning system to help the body rid itself of
accumulated toxins and poisons, it brings tissue to
a healthier state.
MASSAGE, SPORTS
Sports massage is a specialized field of massage for
minimizing the risk of injury, for tending to sports
injuries that do occur, and for assisting in
achieving optimum performance.
MASSAGE,SWEDISH
The most commonly practiced form of massage in
Western countries, Swedish massage integrates
ancient oriental techniques with modern principles
of anatomy and physiology. Practitioners rub, knead,
pummel, brush, and tap the muscles. Swedish massage
is widely practiced; thus, practitioners will range
greatly in training, technique, and length of
session
MASSAGE, THERAPEUTIC
Therapeutic massage involves the use of strokes and
pressure on the surface of the body to release
tension, increase circulation and relieve muscular
pain. A massage can provide a sense of wellbeing, of
nurturing, of grounding; it can be invigorating, and
it can awaken a greater awareness of the body.
MASSAGE THERAPY
As defined by the American Massage Therapy
Association, Massage Therapy is "...the manipulation
of soft tissue for therapeutic purposes and may
include, but is not limited to, effleurage,
petrissage, tapotement, compression, vibration,
friction, nerve strokes, and other Swedish
Movements, either by hand or with mechanical or
electrical apparatus for the purpose of body
massage. This may include the use of oil, salt
glows, hot and cold packs, and other recognized
forms of Massage Therapy." The physical, mental, and
emotional benefits of Massage Therapy are well
documented. In general, most massage techniques
accomplish the following: increased circulation of
blood and lymphatic fluid which brings additional
qualities of oxygen and nutrients to tissue; removal
and elimination of the waste products of metabolism
and other toxic substances from the body; relaxation
and reduction of stress with attendant decrease in
pain; movement of blood back to the heart in those
individuals unable to exercise due to a debilitating
disease or injury.
MEDITATION
Meditation is the intentional directing of attention
to the clear aspect of one's own inner nature. There
are many different types of Meditation practiced
today based on different principles using the body
or mind and whether they employ control or
letting-go mechanisms as a means of achieving a
meditative state. A variety of techniques are used
to achieve a state of harmony; these include the use
of imagery, mantras, and observation and control of
the breath. While some meditators may seek a
mystical sense of oneness with a higher power or
with the universe, others may seek to reduce stress
or alleviate stress-related ailments such as anxiety
and high blood pressure. Research has shown that
Meditation can contribute to an individual's
psychological and physiological well being.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE
Myofascial release is a whole body "hands-on"
technique that seeks to free the body from the grip
of tight fascia, or connective tissue, thus
restoring normal alignment and function and reducing
pain. Using their hands, therapists apply mild,
sustained pressure in order to gently stretch and
soften the fascia. Myofascial Release is used to
treat neck and back pain, headaches, recurring
sports injuries, and scoliosis, among other
conditions.
NATUROPATHY
Naturopathy is a comprehensive and eclectic system
that incorporates the use of a broad range of
natural substances and natural means to promote
health. Naturopathic philosophy is to work in
harmony with the body's natural healing abilities.
Training may include the study of specific
approaches such as massage, manipulation,
acupuncture,
acupressure,
counseling, applied
nutrition,
herbal medicine,
homeopathy, minor surgery and basic
obstetrics for assistance at natural childbirth.
NETWORK CHIROPRACTIC
Network chiropractic is a form of chiropractic that
views the spine as a powerful "switchboard of
consciousness." The method is based on the belief
that spinal adjustment can serve to unify the
physical, emotional, and mental body with a
universal intelligence or consciousness.
NEURO-LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING
(NLP)
NLP is a systematic approach to changing limiting
patterns of thought, behavior and language. In
conversation, practitioners observe the client's
language, eye movements, posture, breathing, and
gestures in order to detect and then help change
unconscious patterns linked to the client's
emotional state.
NEUROMUSCULAR
THERAPY
Neuromuscular Therapy emphasizes the role of the
brain, spine, and nerves in muscular pain. One goal
of the therapy is to relieve tender congested spots
in muscle tissue and compressed nerves that may
radiate pain to other areas of the body.
OSTEOPATHIC
PHYSICIANS
Osteopathic Physicians are trained to help the body
stimulate and restore its own immune system
naturally. Osteopathy utilizes generally accepted
physical, pharmacological, and surgical methods of
diagnosis and therapy, with strong emphasis on body
mechanicsand manipulative methods to detect and
correct faulty structure and function. Doctors of
Osteopathy are fully trained and licensed according
to the same standards as M.D.'s and receive
additional extensive training in the body's
structure and function. D.O.'s offer a hands-on
approach to the diagnosis and treatment of selected
ailments involving bones, muscles, tendons, tissues,
and the spinal column through the use of palpation,
manipulation, and physical therapy.
PAST
LIFE/REGRESSION THERAPIES
Past Life and Regression Therapies operate on the
assumption that many physical, mental, and emotional
problems are extensions of unresolved problems from
the past - whether from childhood traumas or from
experiences in previous lifetimes. The practitioner
uses hypnosis (or altered states of consciousness)
and relaxation techniques to access the source of
this "unfinished business," and helps clients to
analyze, integrate, and release past traumas that
are interfering with their current lives.
PERSONAL FITNESS
TRAINER
A Personal Fitness Trainer is a certified fitness
professional who designs fitness programs for
individuals desiring one-on-one training. Providing
optimal fitness results in the privacy of ones home
or choice of location (club, office, etc.).
PHOENIX RISING
YOGA THERAPY
Phoenix Rising Yoga is a form of
yoga therapy
designed to help clients achieve greater spiritual
balance in their lives. A therapy session combines
hands-on support in performing yoga postures with
therapeutic dialogue techniques. Phoenix Rising is
based on the principles of
Kripalu Yoga.
PHYSICAL THERAPY
Physical Therapy includes evaluation of difficulties
with mobility or function, rehabilitation through a
restorative treatment program and instruction on how
to make efficient use of the body in daily
activities. Therapists use
massage, exercise, electrical
stimulation, ultrasound, and other methods to help
the patient regain functional movement.
POLARITY THERAPY
Polarity Therapy is a system of energy balancing
that asserts that energy fields and currents exist
everywhere in nature, and that the free flow and
balance of this energy in the human body is the
underlying foundation of good health. Practitioner's
use gentle touch and guidance in diet, exercise, and
self-awareness to help clients balance their energy
flow, thus supporting a return to health. The
practitioner's hands do not impart energy, they
merely redirect the flow of the receiver's own
energy. The receiver then recharges himself with his
own freed energy.
REBIRTHING
Also known as conscious connected breathing (or by
some practitioners as vivation), Rebirthing is a
means to access and release unresolved emotions. The
technique uses conscious, steady, rhythmic breathing
without pausing between inhaling and exhaling.
Guided by a professional Rebirther, clients
re-experience past memories - including birth - and
let go of emotional tension long stored in the body.
REFLEXOLOGY
Sometimes called zone therapy, Reflexology is based
on the idea that there are reflex points on the
soles of the feet or the palms of the hands that
represent or correspond to every major organ, gland,
and area of the body. With fingers and thumbs, the
practitioner applies pressure to these points to
treat a wide range of health problems.
REIKI
Reiki, meaning "universal life-force energy" is a
scientific method of activating and balancing the
life-force present in all living things. Reiki
practitioners use light hand placements to channel
healing energies to organs and glands or to align
the chakras (energy centers). There are techniques
for emotional and mental distress, chronic and acute
physical problems, and for achieving spiritual focus
and clarity. Reiki is a valuable addition to the
work of chiropractors, massage therapists, nurses,
and others for whom the use of touch is essential or
appropriate.
REMOTE SPIRIT
RELEASEMENT
Remote Spirit Releasement is perhaps the newest
Hypnotic technique with the greatest healing power.
Dr. Edith Fiore states "Earthbound entities (or
spirits) are simply those who did not make a natural
transition to higher planes of existence". When the
body dies, for some reason, the spirit gets confused
and attaches to another human and interferes with
their lives. Sometimes bringing along the symptoms
of the deceased. By doing a Releasement, you help
both the spirit and its host.
ROLFING
Also called Structural Integration, Rolfing is a
precise and sophisticated technique for manipulating
the body's myofascial system, which is composed of
the muscles and the facia (connective tissue), to
restore the body's natural alignment and sense of
integration. As the body is released from old
patterns and postures, the range and freedom of both
physical and emotional expression is increased. The
process involves ten sessions, each focusing on a
different part of the body.
RUBENFELD SYNERGY
METHOD
The Rubenfeld Synergy Method is a dynamic system for
the integration of body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
Through gentle touch each of these four levels can
be accessed, simultaneously releasing pain and fears
which are held in the body/mind. It utilizes
principles from several well known therapies
including the Alexander Technique,
Feldenkrais Method,
Gestalt Therapy, and Ericksonian
hypnosis. Because it combines bodywork and
psychotherapy, The Rubenfeld Synergy Method may be
used for specific physical or emotional problems or
for personal growth.
SHAMANISM
Shamanism is an ancient healing tradition that dates
back 40,000 years or more, making it the oldest of
all healing therapies. Shamanism is based on the
belief that all healing includes the spiritual
dimension. Shamanic healing usually involves
induction into an altered state of consciousness and
journeying into the spirit world to regain personal
power and to access the powers of nature and of
teachers. The loss of power is the real source of
illness. It does not seem important whether this
approach is taken literally or employed
symbolically. In or out of its cultural context
shamanic healing is both self-empowering and
self-healing.
SHIATSU
The most widely known form of acupressure, Shiatsu
is a Japanese word meaning "finger pressure."
Shiatsu uses varying degrees of pressure to balance
the life energy that flows through specific pathways
(meridians) in the body. Tension is released and
weak areas are strengthened to allow for even
circulation, cleansing of the cells, and improved
vital organ function. Shiatsu can diagnose, prevent
and relieve many chronic and acute conditions
manifesting on both physical and emotional levels.
SOUND HEALING
Sound Healing involves the use of vocal and
instrumental tones, generated internally or
externally. When sounds are produced with healing
intent they can create sympathetic resonance in the
physical and energy bodies. Sound healing can bring
discordant energy into balance and harmony.
SPIRITUAL
HEALING/COUNSELING
Spiritual Healing/Counseling comes in two forms. In
one, the healer uses thought or touch to align his
spiritual essence with the spirit of the client. The
healer works to either balance the spiritual field
or shift the perceptual base of the client to create
harmony between mind and body and draw the client
into the active presence of a Divine Healing Force.
In the other, the healer transforms healing energy
into a vibration frequency that the client can
receive and comfortably assimilate, gently reminding
the person's intuitive core of its inherent healing
ability and imparting a vision of health. Spiritual
healers often work within a particular spiritual
tradition, seek guidance from "spirit helpers," and
rely on some form of prayer or
meditation.
STRAIN-COUNTERSTRAIN THERAPY
Strain-Counterstrain Therapy is a
neuromuscular
technique that involves identification of a trigger
point, a hypersensitive area in the muscle and
connective tissue that is painful to touch. The
practitioner passively moves the patient's body into
a position that relieves the referred pain and holds
that position for 90 seconds. When the body is moved
back into the original position and the trigger
point is pressed, the referred pain is gone.
TANTRA
Tantra has emerged as a modern spiritual path of
embodied consciousness, with roots in ancient Hindu
and Buddhist traditions. Tantra views the
"spiritual" as being directly present within the
"physical" and respects sensory experience as a
vehicle for accessing higher states of awareness.
Tantra practices balance the chakras (energy
centers) and can contribute to a sense of presence,
intimacy and fulfillment in all aspects of living.
TANTRA TAI CHI
Tantra Tai Chi is a recently developed practice of
Tai Chi/Qijong-style body movements designed to be
performed with a partner. Tantra Tai Chi can enhance
intimacy by sequentially and simultaneously focusing
attention on the root or sexual center near the base
of the spine, the heart or love center in the
mid-chest region, and the upper spiritual center in
the head. The cycling of energy through these chakra
centers encourages a blended experience of intimate
presence with one's own internal being and with
one's partner.
T'AI
CHI
T'ai Chi is a Chinese Taoist martial art form of
"meditation in movement", combining mental
concentration, coordinated breathing, and a series
of slow, graceful body movements. T'ai Chi may be
practiced for meditative and health purposes or,
with increased speed, the movements may be used for
self-defense. The practitioner allows the body
weight or center of gravity to sink into the abdomen
and feet; this relaxes and deepens the breathing,
quiets the mind and, in turn, regulates the
heartbeat, digestion, and various other muscular,
neurological, glandular and organic functions.
THAI MASSAGE
Traditional Massage of Thailand is a unique form of
body therapy that incorporates gentle rocking,
rhythmic compression, and passive stretching. Thai
massage is performed on a mat, on the floor with the
client dressed in light weight, comfortable clothes.
The central feature of Thai Massage is the rhythmic
compression on the body's energy lines and pressure
points. The influence of
yoga is present in
the body positions and the stretching movements of
Thai Massage. The purpose of Thai Massage is to
stimulate the free flow of energy, break up any
blockages and help restore general well-being.
THERAPEUTIC TOUCH
Therapeutic Touch was introduced into the health
sciences in the early 1970's by nursing professor
Dolores Krieger. It is practiced by registered
nurses and others to relieve pain and stress. The
Therapeutic Touch practitioner "accesses" where the
person's energy field is weak or congested, and then
uses his or her hands to direct energy into the
field to balance it.
TOUCH FOR HEALTH
Touch for Health is a self-help technique taught by
instructors which includes acupuncture techniques,
acupressure, muscle testing, massage, and dietary
guidelines. The techniques balance the body's energy
which improves overall health and strengthens
resistance to common ailments and physical
complaints.
TRAGER BODYWORK
Trager Bodywork is an innovative system of movement
re-education that seeks to address the mental roots
of muscle tension. By gently rocking, cradling, and
moving the clients body, the practitioner encourages
the client to see that physically restrictive
patterns can be changed. Trager work has been
successfully applied to a variety of neuromuscular
disorders, as well as to the stresses and
discomforts of everyday living.
TRIGGER POINT/
MYOTHERAPY
Trigger Point/Myotherapy is a technique used for the
relief of pain. Practitioners of this technique
apply pressure to specific points on the body to
relieve tension. Trigger points are tender,
congested spots on muscle tissue that may radiate
pain to other areas. In releasing tension or spasms,
treatment decreases the swelling and stiffness
associated with muscular pain and increases the
range of motion.
WHOLE SYSTEM HEALTH SCANNING & THERAPEUTICS
"Whole System" health scanning involves analysis of
muscle reflex to diagnose and treat structural,
biochemical and emotional deficiencies/disorders.
The basic premise of this holistic treatment is that
the intelligence of the human body can be accessed
and it will prioritize and communicate issues that
require attention. Deficiencies are identified and
addressed sequentially with corresponding
Micronutritionals. Each formula identified is then
tested with the patient and prescribed with the
intention of reeducating the body to heal itslef.
"Whole System" products are high potency formulated
combinations of vitamins, minerals, herbals,
glandulars and homeopathics designed exclusively to
be used in conjunction with the WS health scanning
method.
YOGA
Yoga is the practical application of the ancient
Indian Vedic teachings. The word Yoga is derived
from the Sanskrit root yuj which means "union" or
"to join," and refers to the joining of man's
physical, mental, and spiritual elements.
In Yoga, the goal of good health is accomplished
through a combination of techniques including
exercises called "asanas" or postures, controlled
breathing, relaxation, meditation, and diet and
nutrition. Although Yoga is not meant to cure
specific diseases or ailments directly, it has been
found effective in treating many physical problems.
